The Rhythm of Manhattan in 1000 Pieces š½š·
Piet Mondrian, the legendary Dutch pioneer of 20th century abstract art, famously evolved his style from traditional representation to pure, unadulterated abstraction. When he fled the outbreak of the Second World War and arrived in Manhattan, the vibrant energy of New York City completely transformed his canvas.
Victory Boogie Woogie represents the absolute pinnacle of this evolution. Inspired by the syncopated rhythms of jazz music and the dazzling grid system of the New York streets, Mondrian replaced his signature harsh black lines with a pulsating, vibrant network of red, yellow, and blue squares.
An Unfinished Symphony: Fascinatingly, Victory Boogie Woogie was Mondrianās final work and remained unfinished upon his death in 1944. Look closely at the puzzle pieces and you can actually see the texture of his creative process. Mondrian frequently used pieces of coloured adhesive tape to test his layouts, constantly shifting the blocks to perfect the visual harmony before committing them to oil paint.
Eurographics has brought this legendary piece of modern art history to life with exceptional attention to detail. This officially licensed puzzle is printed on premium blueboard with a gorgeous, glare-free linen finish.
